School Visits

Children are expected to have experience of a wide variety of living things. We offer a professional and well planned approach to achieving this, using the several hundred species of British marine and freshwater animals, exotic fish, reptiles and amphibians  displayed, as far as possible, in their natural environment.

A typical school visit to Silent World would begin with an introductory talk and slide show.

The children are then split into two groups for the aquatics and the reptiles. The groups are guided around both areas, having the opportunity to handle some of the reptiles.

The groups then come back together for a resume and study session using work sheets, or a lighthearted quiz.

This approach allows the children to obtain full educational value from their visit whilst getting personal enjoyment from the experience.

Variations on a theme

To enhance the experience and educational value of a visit to Silent World we offer a ' Shore Search' on the Tenby beaches, which are within easy walking distance.

Here we have a wealth of habitats; sandy shore, sand pools, rock pools, rocky shore, sea cliffs and caves.

Guides are provided for the 1 - 2 hour tour.

We'll come to you

If you just can't make it to Tenby we are happy to visit your school with our 'Road Show'.

This includes an introductory talk followed by the main subject matter, which can be tailored to your requirements. To supplement this the children get the opportunity to see the travelling exhibits and to handle some of the creatures!

One of our planned sessions can provide a class of 30 with 90 minutes highly educational content with plenty of opportunity for follow up work later.

There's more

Whilst we can provide a ' Standard' visit, we have much experience of working with teachers to attain a visit which meets the individual schools requirements, this is proven with schools visiting us year after year.

So what ever you would like please contact us and ask we will be pleased to talk to you....
